AI Interview Prep for Career Changers
The interview is where vague AI claims fall apart. Prepare to explain the workflow, not just the tool name.
Direct answer
Prepare for AI career interviews by practicing one clear story: the business problem, the AI tool, the prompt or workflow, how you checked the output, what changed, and what you learned when the model was wrong.
The story structure
Situation -> Workflow -> AI tool -> Human review -> Result -> Lesson
This structure keeps you from sounding like you pasted AI buzzwords into your resume. It also lets the interviewer test your judgment.
Questions to rehearse
- What task did you use AI for, and why was AI useful there?
- Why did you choose ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or another tool?
- What did the model get wrong?
- How did you verify the output?
- What result changed: time, quality, coverage, consistency, or decision speed?
- What would you automate next, and what would you keep human-reviewed?
Bring proof, not hype
Use a one-page artifact from your AI portfolio. If you wrote an AI resume bullet, make sure it matches the evidence. The resume guide shows how to do that.
Next step
Write one interview story using the structure above, then compare it to the broader AI career transition roadmap.
