1. Fable 5.1 is for the pack you already own
On September 1, 2026, Anthropic published Claude Fable 5.1. Their page positions it for long-running agent work and for documents, spreadsheets, and slides. We are not reprinting their pricing tables. Confirm the live model name on that URL.
The career move is small. Take one brief, sheet, or deck you already owe this week. Ask for a revision that quotes the attached source. Write the line you checked before anyone else sees it.

2. Gemini 3.8 Flash is the current workhorse
Google launched Gemini 3.8 Flash on September 2. The post says it is the workhorse for agentic tasks, coding, and multi-step reasoning at Flash speed. In the Gemini app, Search AI Mode, and Gemini in Sheets it is on paid Google AI plans. Confirm the picker. Do not assume the free tier.
Do this: pick one recurring work task (a sheet, a research note, a status pull), run it on 3.8 Flash, and save the prompt plus the check. The model-switch guide is the habit.
3. GPT-6 Astra is for hard end-to-end work
OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra as the most capable model it has broadly deployed. The model page lists complex reasoning, coding, research, and document work. If Astra is not in your ChatGPT or API picker yet, skip this item. Do not invent access.

4. Copilot plus Foundry is the workplace agent path
Microsoft’s current Foundry publish guide describes sending an agent into Microsoft 365 Copilot and Teams through one governed path. Admin review still sits in front of org-wide use. If you do not have Copilot at work, skip this item. Do not build a side agent to look current.

The proof move
The tip is to match the model to the task. The proof is one artifact from work you already own: the brief, the output, and the line you checked. Use the career artifact templates. That is enough for a manager conversation this week.
